Pry or twist off the handle's cover plate, look for any recessed fasteners attached to the handle's base, and undo the mounting screws. Use a paperclip if you don't see a screw in the slot. It does not seem to want to move or come out after the intitial test to see how hard it will be to remove. Remove handles with recessed fasteners by using a thin screwdriver or Allen wrench in the handle's recessed slot.

all I can see is the foam that completly covers the interior of the door. I already have all the screws loose on the inside door panel. Once you have the interior knob removed, you will then have access to the interior screws that are holding the plate and the exterior handle in place. This will release the interior knob from the door. The problem is going to be directly behind the handle on the interior portion of the door. You need to slip a small screwdriver over the lever and slid it in the direction that the arrow indicates.
Removem exterior door handles cracked#
The actual plastic part of the handle that you grab when you pull to open the door is NOT cracked or broken. Once you have those undone, there are iirc two 2mm bolts holding the actual handle in place.

You have to unlock the little plastic pieces, then pull them out of the handle. To correct, remove and disassemble the assembly, cement the gasket to the. Once you have done that, there are two metal links connecting the handle to the lock. Does anyone have knowledge of where I need to start? And what "component" do I need to be focusing on here, as in cable, or screw or pin etc etc. Exterior door handles and lock assemblies were identical for both years. This happened when I pulled the door handle to open it. recently hard a "crack" while attempting to open my drivers side door, followed by what sounded like something metal bouncing off other components inside the door as it made it's way to the bottom of the door. OR you have fixed on someone else's Focus and know alittle bit about what's going on. I need assistance from someone who either has a Focus and has fixed the problem I currently have.
